Our Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service helps children and young people communicate effectively, connect with others, and build self-confidence. Our SLTs work collaboratively with residential teams and other clinicians. We take a relationship-based, trauma-informed approach that helps children feel heard and understood. We understand that communication difficulties often stem from early trauma, inconsistent caregiving, or developmental delay. Our trauma-informed approach supports both children and staff, promoting understanding, empathy, and meaningful interaction.
Communication is fundamental to relationships, learning, and emotional wellbeing. Many children in care struggle with expressive and receptive language, social communication, or speech clarity. These challenges can lead to frustration, isolation, or behavioural difficulties.
